Attracted by critics of the View the past week and with the desire to eat real Chinese food there is out of Lower City to try Chez Soi, installed for some time on the street in Old St. Angela Quebec (formerly the Colosseum Book).

The smell of humidity makes us feel more like an old cellar in a restaurant but the many clients we are confident. Is ordered soups as input: crab and asparagus for me and for my hot and sour sidekick and main course we decided to share a house fried rice and chicken crispy Sichuan fashion described in the show.

My soup is not spicy and sour taste but is very good. After a long wait and a quarter hours (hence the advantage of bringing your own wine but there was no wine) main dishes arrive at our table. Disappointment. For $ 15 we expected a fried rice or fried luxury! Alas it is a sad white rice topped with no seasoning (and include) 2 shrimps, 2 pieces chicken and pork, 10 thawed peas and tiny bits of egg. For 2 times cheaper fried rice at Thai Express is tasty with lime, peanuts and sauce to taste (we understand that it is Thai and Chinese food is different but still!) Are asked to soy sauce server, anything to flavor, our request fell into oblivion.

So that chicken is a much-touted chicken breast fried on one side and cut into strips, served in a tangy sauce that tastes a little anise. No vegetable, only the chest. It's good but again too expensive for what it is.

We still think there is still no real Chinese restaurant in Quebec and we expect our next visit to Montreal to afford the return addresses of the restaurants in Chinatown.

In short: The Restaurant At Home ... I would rather eat at home.
